Easy Search Engine Optimization For WordPress SEO
I remember the first time I heard the term search engine optimization (SEO), I thought…
Wow – that sounds hard!
In reality, basic SEO for a WordPress blog is actually pretty darn easy if you understand some basic concepts about how your blog (or web pages for that matter) gets listed in the search engines.
Here are the most important things you need to know about SEO when it comes to your blog posts:
The title of your blog post carries most of the weight when it comes to how a blog post is listed and ranked in the search engines.
The position of the search terms you use in your blog post title matters! Search terms located at the beginning of the blog post title are more powerful than search terms positioned at the end of your blog post title.
Now here’s the biggest secret of all:
There are actually two blog post titles produced when you publish a blog post:

This is a big deal because it allows you to have two separate titles for each blog post:
One that is interesting and entices the reader to view more of your blog post and another which is search engine optimized for the search engines.
For example, you could have a blog post with a title like this:

But the title that the search engine sees can be formatted like this:

As you can see, the titles are completely different and the keyword phrase I am using in this example (WordPress SEO) is at the beginning of the title that the search engine sees instead of at the end of the title that the visitor sees.
That’s exactly what I did with the blog post you are reading now.
The bottom line:
The title of your blog post is critical to getting better search engine listings and traffic to your blog.
