How To Make Money Watching TV
This is one of those rare blog posts that you may actually want to share with friends or family because…
I’m going to reveal how anyone can make money watching TV—on a part time or full time basis.
Let’s start with a little background first…
The last time I checked, the average time adults spent in the US watching TV was 4 hours per day. It was 6 hours per day until the Internet showed up.
I also know that many people are passionate about the television programs they watch. Not only that…
They could literally talk for hours about the various TV shows they watch, especially when in the company of others who appreciate the same TV programs or the same genre of TV programming.
For the last couple of years I have been telling people that if there was a way to make money watching TV, well there would be a lot of folks who would do it.
Well, you can. But there are two prerequisites which are…
- You must be willing and able to share your passion for your TV programs with others online on a frequent basis. And I’m not talking about becoming a TV critic (even though part of what you will be doing is some critical review).
- You will probably need to do a little simple research online from time to time to find out more about the real people behind the characters who perform in the TV shows that you like the most.
What I am really talking about is being a TV enthusiast who is willing to become an information hub for other TV enthusiasts interested in what happens on the boob tube as much as you do.
And, you don’t have to be a “writer” to do it.
If this describes you and you want to take a shot at becoming a professional couch potato, here’s what you do:
1. Take an inventory of the types of TV programs you like to watch. Initially you will want to focus on ONE particular genre on television programming (ie: sitcoms).
2. Sign up for a free online platform that will share advertising revenue with you—in particular, Google Adsense income (click here for my article on free online platforms that offer revenue sharing).
I would start with a free service for your first online platform because you may find that talking about your favorite TV shows online is not for you. That way, you can “stick your toe” into the world of making money online with zero risk (trust me, there are VERY FEW legitimate income generation processes that you can try out for free).
3. Sign-up for a free Google Adsense account. You will need this because this will be your primary income vehicle in the beginning.
4. Once you have chosen your free online platform and it has been monetized (for this article that means you have set-up Google Adsense on the online platform you are going to use)…
You need to use that online platform to talk about the TV programs you watch at every opportunity you get. Make sure you use the name of the actor(s) or the name of the show in the title of anything you communicate about using this free online platform.
If you have a Facebook account and already talk about programs that you watch on TV, in this online business model you are doing the same thing except…
You can’t make money on Facebook. But you can using the right free online platform and use your Facebook account to lead your friends to your online platform that pays you to talk about the TV programs you love.
Here’s your basic starter business plan:
Talk about your favorite TV shows as often as you can using your free online platform (which has been monetized using Google Adsense). Do this for 60 days, realizing that it will take some time to build your traffic base initially.
Evaluate your progress and your income at the end of 60 days. If you are satisfied with your progress, you may want to seriously consider launching your own independently hosted blog so that you can make 100% of the Google Adsense revenue for yourself.
Without getting overly technical…
This online business model basically involves tapping into an existing fan base of others, just like yourself who watch the same sorts of TV programs and share similar tastes in programming.
Here’s something cool…
You will never be out of things to talk about, especially if you watch TV daily.
Here’s something even cooler…
For couples who watch a lot of TV together, they could actually team up and really generate some traffic (and income) working together to talk about their favorite TV shows.
And you can really do this part time—on your schedule.
As I mentioned earlier, you may want to share this article with friends and family. There’s nothing to buy to get started.
And for all the folks out there who are struggling to “figure out” how to start an online business and think they have no skills or nothing offer…
EVERYBODY watches TV. ANYONE can make money watching TV and talking about it. I just showed you how.
And if you don’t believe me…
There’s actually a term for what have described and it’s called TV Blogger. One was just recently interviewed on CNN.com about a TV program that I had never even heard of.
So, are you ready to become a professional couch potato?
Your comments are welcome. Enjoy!
