What are backlinks? Backlinks are links to your blog or website from other blogs or webistes all over the Internet. It can be from independently hosted websites, free blogs or websites as well as from social networking websites.

Backlinks give your blog or website “authority” when it comes to placing your blog posts or web pages in the search engine results pages (SERPS). Backlinks mean power, traffic and ultimately income if your blog or website is monetized properly.

The short answer is that backlinks = more traffic. End of story.

If you have many backlinks to your site, Google will deem your site highly relevant. Backlinks build your relevancy, which in turn raises your page rank.

So, the big question is this:

How do you build thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of backlinks to your blog or website?

One way is by writing articles, and distributing them to article directories in categories related to your industry.

And let me also say this…

Backlinks from articles are the some of the best kind of backlinks you can get — huge PR and high search engine placement are just a few reasons articles can be powerful traffic generation tools.

You could build lots of backlinks by doing a link exchange, but that’s a bad idea. A link exchange is you putting a link to another site on your site in exchange for the other site linking back to you.

But that’s not an optimal situation because you want as many of one way links linking back to your site as you can get — NOT reciprocal links. If your outgoing links equal or exceed the number of links coming in your relevancy is lost.

Know this — visitors WILL come to your blog or website if you will write articles that lead directly back to relevant information your blog or website.

So, if you really want highly targeted, high quality traffic (and backlinks) then..

Write articles, distribute them, and build as many backlinks as possible from as many different article directory sites as you can.

DO NOT submit the exact same article to the exact same article directories — use the free Content Buider Pro tool to “restructure” your articles quickly and easy for multiple article directory submissions.

Oh, I almost forgot…

The link that leads back to your blog or webiste is usually provided by you in the author resource box of the article.
