social-networking2It really doesn’t matter what social networking platform it may be, recent history has shown online marketers are quick to identify growth opportunities for their businesses and social network marketing has proven to be no exception.

If you are savvy and know what you are doing, social network marketing has proven to be a very viable way to grow an online business.

The original intent of social networking sites were for people to gather to share ideas, interests, stay in touch, or even meet new people all on a casual basis.

So keep this in mind while you are contemplating using social network marketing tactics on these sites…

If you’re constantly pitching a new product, idea, service, or opportunity NOBODY will want to associate with you.

But make no mistake–there are numerous methods you can use for marketing online but few surpass the speedy results or ‘viral capabilities’ that social networking sites can offer.

It is up to you as a sincere and responsible business owner to identify and practice the proper etiquette that is expected when participating at any social site.

A much better way to use social marketing in a way that benefits both you and those in the social network environment is to have a blog or hub pages that with high quality information that folks are invited to review on your social network pages.

Using this approach, you can monetize your work without coming across as a “spammer” or someone who actually has little interest in what they are talking about in the first place.

Just keep this in mind…

Share information, knowledge and research with others on social network sites. Lead folks to information that they truly want to know about and if there is a product to recommend, so be it. Make sure that recommendation is genuine and not just regurgitated lines from the sales page.

If you are using MySpace, Facebook or Twitter — you can’t usually make any money from these platforms. So, you need to lead people to a different platform that you CAN make money from, whether you have a product to recommend or not. That means a blog or hub page.

No matter what — take social network marketing seriously. Be responsible and don’t be careless.
