When I started my comedy career, there was no Internet.

Even when the Internet was made available to the general public in the mid 90’s, there certainly wasn’t the volume of information that is available today.

Subsequently, until I had been a comedian for awhile, I had no idea that there even was even such a thing as the corporate market for stand-up comedians.

decision-pointsOne of the things that I don’t like about stand-up comedy is that a comedian is usually deeply invested in a comedy club act before they start realizing that the real money in stand-up comedy is made in comedy markets outside the comedy club scene.

But if a comedian doesn’t know how to develop corporate type or family friendly stand-up comedy material that kills at headliner level, then they will remain excluded from higher paying comedy work outside the comedy club market.
