One of the reasons that I am so adamant about tracking your traffic statistics is because it is a performance indicator.
If you are blogging regularly and using the SEO techniques along with the other techniques described on this blog already, you should see the traffic to your blog increase on a consistent basis.
As a side note—virtually everything you need to start and grow a blog rapidly is already available to you now for FREE on this blog.

It seems kind of silly to start a blog without knowing what kind of progress you are making on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
For me, it can be a great motivator to keep my blogs going because I can actually see the traffic results first hand.

As you are tracking your blog progress, one of things that you want to do is to EXCLUDE yourself from your traffic statistics programs if at all possible.
Why?
Because you can rack up a ton of what look like “visits”, but it’s really just you, adding and editing posts, changing your blog appearance, reviewing how new ads look on your blog and on and on.

I hear all the time someone say “I get [fill in the number] of hits on my blog everyday”.
And I’m here to tell you…
Hits don’t matter. The number of unique visitors you get to your blog DOES matter. These two things are NOT the same number or even the same thing.
