Yes, the group dynamic is very interesting. I was at a gig last Sunday (as an audience member) and the audience were laughing at stuff I didn’t find funny – like they were infecting each other. When I’m watching comedy on TV I’ll definitely laugh out loud more when I’m with someone else. If a comic can make me laugh during a TV performance when I’m on my own, I know they’re good!

More potential depends on what you are trying to accomplish as a comedian. If you have a clean act, you can thrive in virtually any metro area. If you are trying to “get famous”, LA and NYC are the places to be.

As far as an agent goes, it’s a non-issue until you have a killer 45 minutes of material.

I hope stand up comedy is at least on the upswing.

Is there a particular area of the country that has more potential for live performers? Do agents take vide submissions? Where is the best place to look for an agent?

I’m not sure I want my best stuff on Youtube because it’s an integral part of my act. Kind of like when the movie trailer shows ALL the best parts of the movie and you leave the theater feeling cheated after seeing the entire film. At least I do.
